Façade specialist, Wicona Projects, has made a new senior appointment as part of its continued expansion in the UK.

Paul Ruddick is now National Sales Manager for Wicona.  He joined Hydro Building Systems a year ago, where he worked as an Architectural Advisor for Wicona’s sister brand, architectural glazing systems specialist, Technal.

Paul has more than 20 years’ experience in the construction industry, which includes 15 years specialising in the glazing sector, where he worked with architects, contractors and fabricators on the specification of aluminium façade systems.

In his new role at Wicona, he will be involved in more complex façade projects at the earliest stages and in raising awareness of Wicona’s solutions for more bespoke and fast track schemes.

He will also develop new business for unitised curtain walling, which brings the advantages of off-site construction to the building envelope, such as further improved quality, safety and shorter programme times for challenging projects and constrained city centre sites.

Wicona Projects is the first façade specialist in the UK to offer a full package of services for highly engineered glazing solutions and unitised façade projects.  The Wicona team will oversee every stage of the façade construction, from concept design and the development of the glazing solution through to fabrication, installation and testing.

Demand for Wicona’s unitised solutions from architects, developers and contractors, continues to increase.  It is a highly efficient façade option for sites with little or no access.  It can eliminate scaffolding to improve site safety, and can cut programme times by up to 70 per cent, allowing a watertight envelope to be completed for earlier fitting out, handover and occupation.
